Ajax Seventh-day Adventist Community Church hosted an evangelistic series, from April 6, to 27, 2019, in which Pastor Kimoy Allen was the guest speaker, coming all the way from the sunny island of Jamaica. He touched on a variety of topics, relating to our walk of faith with the Lord. The in-depth, comprehensive studies dove into current events and were supported by the word. An evangelistic series is a great opportunity for the church to outreach to family members, friends, and the local community. Ajax Community Church members were able to do so by doing track distribution which was organized by the personal ministry department. Every Monday and Friday evening as well as on Sabbath, the members of the church were asked to come out and bring a friend or family member with them to support the series. Another form of outreach was the weekly online streaming of each service, allowing individuals from all over the world to listen to the word of God. Other than being a great opportunity for the church to do outreach, it is an effective medium to help individuals to internalize the word of God. At Ajax Church, a quiz about the previous sermon was handed out at every evening program by the greeters and a prize was awarded to the person who got the most correct answers. The quizzes encouraged people to come back to the evening programs, allowed the congregation to be interactive and were the church’s way of helping individuals to retain the word of God in their minds. The main objective of an evangelistic series is to bring souls to Christ and sure enough by April 27, 2019, Ajax Seventh-day Adventist Community Church gained five new members. A church potluck was held, so people could come together and fellowship and to say a bitter-sweet farewell to the guest speaker, Pastor Kimoy Allen, who was returning home. The evangelistic series ended on a high note, church members and visitors were feeling refreshed and optimistic about their walk with God. However, the work does not end here. There is still a lot of outreach and evangelizing to do. by Tioshae Mason Writer, Communications Department Ajax SDA Community Church
Christina Vassell, a member of the Ajax Seventh-day Adventist Community church and a Pathfinder, volunteered at the Summit and was excited to be the lucky winner of the all-expense-paid trip to Cuba. Like many of the other attendees, she was thrilled to visit over 50 booths displaying various scientific evidences of God’s detailed design and creation in nature. Christina is looking forward to her first trip to Cuba and anxiously awaits the announcement of the date and location of the next Earth Summit.
According to Dr. David Burt, a member of the steering committee, “[our] aim was to shed light on God’s character through nature and re-inspire in the community a sense of awe and wonder in God’s creation and a commitment to take care of it”. by Judy Hutchinson-Boyce Church Clerk |
